Cinco de Mayo

fiesta (2)Finally after 6 months, what luck! Beirut Drive-by brings you a billboard with a side of restaurant review. Those Sombrero’s don’t make you Mariachi any more than your cheese powder covered chip-things make you Tex-Mex. We suffered through lunch at Fiesta Mexican Grill on Cinco de Mayo. If you’re craving some bad Mexican Food, this is the place for you.

Super Coffee Shop

jeita palaceIt was a Chinese Restaurant then it was a Coffee Shop. It seems now to be a “Super Coffee Shop.”  Is this how Maameltein got started?

Middle East Peace

toyotaThe Mercedes Benz emblem actually most closely resembles the Peace Sign. Ironically it seems to also be the preferred vehicle of diplomats, politicians and service taxi drivers, none of whom bring much peace or peace of mind to anyone in the Middle East.

One And Only

FAP (3)The search is over and you’ve found that special “One”. Hopefully you’ll feel this way as the years pass and time takes its toll. The inevitable effects will show, sagging, wear and the changing shape. The once firm, ready-for-anything will give way to familiar softness perfectly formed to fit. You might look around for another one but take good care of this one and it could even last you a lifetime. Just be sure to flip it over every now and again…. to extend the life of your mattress.

Internet Piracy In Lebanon

KFC (4)“Piracy is a way of life in Lebanon” according to this article from Now Lebanon. New releases make it to the DVD player before the theater, illegal software is the norm. Only in Lebanon does the phrase “original copy” make any sense. As Lebanon waits for better internet, the rest of the world waits to see how Lebanon will further abuse the world wide web. We even wonder if our neighbor has pirated our electricity when the bill shows up. This report from Iranian-based PressTV explains Lebanon’s internet crisis. It seems Israeli piracy has created our problems. Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, KFC has been taken over by pirates. What have they done with the chicken?
