Summer Love

BofB
Loving Beirut is easy when you’re cruising in your speedboat…. try loving Beirut when you’re stuck in summer traffic….breathing truck exhaust….paying 5 times as much for gas as our visiting neighbors….or when you take a hot service taxi while the driver puffs away…coasting in neutral…as he stops to put 5000LL in the tank…..or riding the bus….stopping every 2 seconds to snag another rider…only to arrive home to find the electricity is off and you’ll be taking the stairs to the 6th floor….with your bottles of water…since it’s summer and the clean water isn’t on all the time………..

  1. In all the time I've been following this blog, this is the first time we get a comment this long on a billboard.
Guess they hit a nerve there :P

  2. you see , thats why we never moved to beirut. Here in tripoli ,even though all the buildings are old , and we only have one tiny mall and very little places to spend our nights in , but at the end of the day we don't suffer from any congestion , much lower rates of pollution and plenty of fresh groundwater thats available 24/7 , so the clean government water is only used for drinking haha :P and we enjoy the same sea views that beirut is lucky to have :D

  4. Bank of Beirut is owned and run and trusted by people who own yachts. This billboard was only big enough to show one of their yachts.

  6. I agree! It's so nice to see a long critical comment from you! Finally! Hope you keep this up,,I enjoy hearing that I'm not the only one with those frustrations! I too live on the 6th floor and have power cuts for at least three hours a day.. ;)

  7. Haha, this just made my day! I stumbled on your blog, and am now living in Beirut and couldn't agree more with everything you wrote.
